Lisa Shoemaker – Painter
Artist's Statement:
My abstract artwork is inspired by Nature, especially landscapes. I work with what's behind the natural world's visual presence, to explore Nature's essence. I focus on the energies feared: power, violence, harshness; and the energies loved: magnificence, nurturing, movement.
Artist's Bio
Lisa Shoemaker has been a South Dakota resident since 1995. Recent exhibition highlights include: "Landscape Paintings: Four Artists", Apex Gallery, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, Oct-Nov 2016; Sanford Underground Research Facility's "Into the Dark" 2013-2014 traveling SD art exhibit. Her oil painting Fences & Wires was purchased in 2008 for South Dakota's Arts in State Buildings program and is on display in Pierre, SD. In 2002 Lisa was selected as a 2002-03 SD Artist Grant recipient. Work developed from this grant was exhibited at the South Dakota Art Museum, Brookings, June-Oct 2003, and at the Mundt Library, Dakota State University, Madison, Dec 2004.
